Holiday Train and Our Spontaneous Saturday

This past Friday we went to see the Spark of Love Metrolink Toy Train. It's one of those holiday traditions that we make a point of going to because Katelyn loves trains and christmas lights and we get to donate a toy to kids in need. All around a good thing to get us into the holiday spirit.

On Saturday we drove down to Pasadena to go and visit Betty Smith. We had a great time watching football and showing her how big Katelyn has gotten. After our visit, our plan was to get Katelyn in the car for a nap and then drive through the crest to go home. Well, Mike drove while both Katelyn and mommy slept and when we woke up there was snow. Apparently we slept so long that Mike had to keep driving and we ended up near Wrightwood in our very own Winter Wonderland.

Katelyn was so excited to be in the snow! She wanted to go sledding but there wasn't enough snow and we weren't prepared. I'm just glad we happened to have her coat in the car...it was freezing! After we played in the snow as long as we could stand the cold...Mike and I were in jeans and t-shirts, we headed back down the hill and to Mike's favorite BBQ restaurant Zeke's in Montrose. It just so happened that the city was having their annual Holiday Parade that night and the restaurant was on the parade route. After we ate the the best dinner ever, we got to enjoy the parade and all the fun that goes with it like meeting Santa Claus. After this great night we've decided to make this another one of our family traditions...BBQ and holiday lights!
